Ngape, 1 August
A total of 774 acres of summer paddy cultivated during summer have been successfully harvested in Ngape Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, yielding 69,059 bushels of paddy, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
The cultivated area included 51 acres of Aung Naing Toe variety, 7 acres of Sar Poe Tha, 52 acres of Manaw Thukha, 26 acres of Yadanar Toe, and 638 acres of Sin Thukha—varieties well-suited to the local climate and known for their high productivity. Harvesting began in July, and all 774 acres have now been fully harvested.
The Ngape Township Agriculture Department is actively working to enhance local food security, improve crop yields, and strengthen agricultural production. As part of this effort, a Summer Crops Agriculture Implementation Committee has been formed to oversee cultivation and harvesting activities. Officials and field staff have also conducted awareness programs to guide farmers on proper harvesting and threshing techniques to minimize crop loss.— Ma Yu (Ngape)
