ACCORDING to Myat Theinga Nge, the founder of the Myat Taw Win Royal Dress Service, there has been a growing interest among young people in traditional Myanmar costumes, leading to several photo shoots and creating clips with them.
With renewed interest among the youth, a change in fashion was seen from the current style to the traditional one, and birthday parties and pre-wedding events have been held in ancient dress styles.
“Young people celebrate birthdays and gatherings to take pictures. They got their photos taken in the costumes and styles of Konbaung era’s princes and wealthy men. Fashion trends and dress codes have changed. Young people were dressed in ancient costumes of the Konbaung era,” Myat Theinga Nge said.
After becoming popular among young people, traditional costumes have been used for various shootings, up to four times per week. As interest among the youth in ancient dress styles of princesses is growing, it makes people happy to see the revived appreciation for traditional culture.
Even models from Myanmar reportedly wore traditional costumes in affection when participating in international competitions. — MT/ZN
