A collective sale of sesame and peanuts grown under the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) system in Magway Region will take place on 19 August, according to the Magway Region Farmers Development Association.
This annual joint sale is held at the Myint Myat Taw Win Company warehouse on Teaching Hospital Road in Magway Township, Magway Region.
“The collective sale of sesame and peanuts grown under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) has been held since 2017. This event has proven convenient for farmers, so in addition to GAP-certified sesame and peanuts, we’ve also started organizing collective sales for other crops such as pigeon peas, mung beans, broad beans, and green peas,” said U Han Nyunt, chairman of the Magway Region Farmers Development Association.
As agricultural products grown under the GAP system continue to fetch good market prices, farmers in the Magway Region are showing increasing interest in adopting GAP practices each year. As a result, the number of farmers growing under the GAP system is steadily rising. — ASH/TH
