The 109th anniversary Buddha Pujaniya festival of Kyaikhmawwun Yele Pagoda, located on a small island in Hmaw Wun Creek in Kyauktan Township, Yangon Region, was opened on 12 March.

           

The Buddha Pujaniya festival of the pagoda was opened by U Zaw Moe Lwin, patron of the committee for organizing the Buddha Pujaniya festival and the regional lawmaker, Township Administrator U Than Htay and Chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustees U Tun Hla Shwe by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. The pagoda’s Buddha Pujaniya festival is being celebrated for nine days from 12 to 20 March.

           

The festival is being held on a grand scale in conjunction with the “Paritta Recitation” ceremony, alms and rice offering to monks and the light floating festival in the Hmaw Wun Creek.—Soe Win
