Pwintbyu, 7 August

Pwintbyu Township in Minbu District, Magway Region, has planted a total of 27,409 acres of rain-fed paddy so far this rainy season, according to the Township Agriculture Department. Efforts are ongoing to meet the full planting target.

The township has set a goal of cultivating 69,999 acres of paddy during this year's rainy season, with planting activities beginning in July. The Agriculture Department is working closely with local farmers to achieve the target within the season.

Officials from the Pwintbyu Township Agriculture Department have encouraged farmers to use high-quality seeds, adopt proper cultivation techniques, and take preventive measures against pests. The department is also coordinating with relevant organizations to support these efforts.

“If we can improve green gram cultivation and increase yields, it will not only satisfy local consumption needs but also create income through surplus sales, thereby improving the socio-economic conditions of our community. Therefore, expanding rain-fed paddy cultivation across the township is essential,” said Daw Moe Moe Wai, Staff Officer of the Township Department of Agriculture.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
