A ceremony to convey Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha images to 21 venues as traditions will take place in Nyaungshwe Township of Shan State (South) in coming October, said U Sai Tun Yi,a member of the pagoda board of trustees.
Aimed at ensuring meritorious activities of residents from Nyaungshwe area of Shan State, the Buddha images will be conveyed as its traditions. The auspicious ceremony to launch conveyance of the images will be held at PhaungdawU monastery, and these images will be carried to Kyaypawkhon Monastery in Intein to spend a night for public obeisance. Like this activity, the Buddha images will be conveyed to 21 significant venues.
“The ceremony will take place under the traditions of ethnics. The festival will include Inntha traditional boat race. The conveyance date has not been set yet. We coordinate with the Shan State government to do so,” said U Sai Tun Yi.
Pilgrims and travellers from four corners of the country flock to the ceremony to convey Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha images. It is the greatest Buddha Pujaniya festival in Inlay region. Along the route to 21 significant venues, these Buddha images will be conveyed for public obeisance with song and dance performances. Moreover, traditional boat race of Inntha ethnic by leg rowing which can be seen in Myanmar only will be held at the conveyance festival. — ASH/TTA
