THE Myanmar dragon boat team fell short of the podium in the finals of the 2025 World Games Dragon Boat Race, held in Chengdu, the People’s Repub­lic of China, from 7 to 17 August.

 

On 10 August, Myanmar competed in the medal-deciding races, which included the Mixed 10-crew 200-metre, 500-metre, and 2,000-metre events, as well as the Open 8-crew 200-metre, 500-metre, and 2,000-metre events. Indonesia secured three gold medals, Ukraine won two, and Thailand took one. My­anmar placed fourth in four events, fifth in one, seventh in one, and ninth in another.

 

The Myanmar team, led by Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation President U Thaung Htaik Min, comprised six male and six female athletes, along with officials.

 

The dragon boat compe­tition saw participation from the host nation, China, as well as Chinese Taipei, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, the Phil­ippines, the Republic of Korea, Cambodia, Ukraine, Hungary, Spain, the Czech Republic, and other countries.—Arkar Lin/ KZL
