Shwedaung, 12 August
With the aim of promoting high-quality rice varieties and ensuring rice self-sufficiency for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, the Township Agriculture Department has successfully completed its targeted acreage for rain-fed rice cultivation in Shwedaung Township, Pyay District, Bago Region, an area primarily reliant on agriculture.
During this year’s rain-fed planting season, rice varieties such as Mawbi-2, Yadanar Toe, Vietnam, and Day-90 have been sown using seeding machines (drum seeders) and hand-pulled rice planters. All designated acres have now been fully planted.
To help achieve the target yield, the Shwedaung Township Agriculture and Livestock Supervision Committee has conducted training courses on advanced planting techniques, organized field demonstrations, and arranged on-site visits. These efforts aim to support farmers with input supplies, promote the balanced use of natural and chemical fertilizers, and provide technical knowledge to boost productivity. The goal is to increase the yield and quality of rain-fed paddy while encouraging farmers to adopt more economically viable, high-yield rice varieties during the rainy season.—Ko Ko Min (IPRD)
