The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is actively working to combat illegal logging through various measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), which encourages public participation in monitoring forest activities.
According to reports from Forest Department offices in Nay Pyi Taw, as well as various states and regions, a total of 66.6843 tons of illegal timber was seized between 8 and 10 August. The seizures included 22.07 tons of teak, 9.46 tons of hardwood, and 35.1406 tons of other timber, along with six vehicles or machines and 29 suspects, according to the Myanmar Forest Department.—MNA
