14 August, Kyunhla
Farmers in Kyunhla Township, Sagaing Region, have planted 11,544 acres of pigeon peas this rainy season, slightly more than the planned 11,541 acres, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
They are growing the Golden Coin variety, which is popular because it is low-cost and profitable. As a result, more farmers are choosing to grow it.
To help farmers get better results, the Agriculture Department is giving training on good seeds, proper planting methods, and pest control.
This effort is part of a larger rainy season plan to grow 16,953 acres of beans in the township. So far, 5,416 acres of green gram and 11,544 acres of pigeon peas have been planted, totaling 16,960 acres, slightly exceeding the target.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
