Pwintbyu, 25 September
Pwintbyu Township in the Magway Region has successfully completed its rainy season pigeon pea cultivation target, with a total of 5,914 acres planted since the beginning of the season in June, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
To help farmers meet their production goals, the Township Agriculture Department has actively supported cultivation efforts. In collaboration with relevant departments, officials provided farmers with quality seeds, training on proper planting techniques, pest management strategies, and guidance on achieving high yields.
“If the yield and quality of pigeon peas can be improved, it will not only satisfy local consumption needs but also create income opportunities through surplus sales,” said Daw Moe Moe Wai, Staff Officer of the Township Agriculture Department. “This will help improve livelihoods and contribute to socio-economic development. Therefore, efforts should be made to further expand pigeon pea cultivation across the township,” she added.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
