THE Yegyaw Thadingyut Funfair, one of the busiest festivals in Yangon, is being held until 7 October, and has been a bustling event since the festival began.
From 1 to 7 October, during Thadingyut holidays, the Yegyaw Festival is taking place on Yegyaw and Bogyoke streets in Pazundaung Township, Yangon.
“The Yegyaw Funfair has been packed with people since 1 October, when it started. Every day, after 6 pm, the streets were very busy. People had to push one another to move through the crowds. Not only Pazundaung locals but also those from other Yangon townships came and enjoyed,” said one of the visitors.
The festival features various shops selling food, consumer goods, toys, clothes and cosmetics, as well as fun games for the young, such as merry-go-round, Ferris wheel, pirate boats and entertainment.
After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was resumed in 2024, and this year it commenced on 1 October in the pre-Thadingyut period. — MT/ZN
