Mongnai, 8 October
Sunflower fields in Mongnai Township, Namsan District, Shan State (South), are thriving and expected to be harvested soon, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
This year, local farmers planted sunflowers across 52 acres to boost edible oil production and support the development of the oilseed crop sector. The entire planned area has now been fully cultivated.
To help improve yields, the township’s agriculture staff are providing farmers with technical support and agricultural inputs. The blooming fields signal a successful season ahead.
In addition to sunflowers, farmers in Mongnai Township also grow rice, peanuts, soybeans, corn, and various food crops year-round for household consumption.— Myo Nyunt Shwe (Mongnai)
