THE Ministry of Energy (MOE) and PTTEP are working together to drill new wells to extract more natural gas from the Yadana and Zawtika projects, and to sign necessary agreements to start new offshore projects.

Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin and Mr Montri Rawanchaikul, Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP International Limited, discussed the aforesaid matters in Nay Pyi Taw on 10 October.

The MOE is coordinating to ensure that the first gas production from the new offshore project, Aung Sinkha, which is intended to be used for domestic power generation, can be started in 2028, and the agreements can be concluded as soon as possible.

During the bilateral meeting, the Union minister informed that there are good opportunities to invest in new offshore projects with good assurance and the Thai state-owned PTTEP International is invited to come and invest in liquefied natural gas (LNG) import, storage and distribution operations in Myanmar.
