With the boom in tourism in this open season, the Bagan Archaeological Museum has been visited by more than a thousand people a day after the Thadingyut holidays, an official said.

The number of domestic traveller arrivals to Bagan during the Thadingyut holidays was more than expected, and visitors are found to be still coming to the museum after the holidays.

From 1 to 4 October, there were 32 locals, 130 locals and three foreigners, 151 locals and four foreigners, and 305 locals and one foreigner, respectively. From 8 to 10 October, after Thadingyut, the museum received 1,087 locals and four foreigners, 1,115 locals and one foreigner, and 1,043 locals and two foreigners.

“From 5 to 7 October, the museum was closed. On 8 October, after Thadingyut, the number of domestic tourists to the museum exceeded one thousand. We’ve seen a lot of visitors coming”, he said.

The tourist community is also preparing to visit Bagan in the coming Tazaungdaing, during which people are interested in visiting Taunggyi, Kalaw, PyinOoLwin, Inlay, Bagan, Chaungtha and Ngwehsaung. — MT/ZN
