Kyaukse Township in Mandalay Region, traditionally known for rice cultivation, is expanding the planting of green gram, pigeon pea, and groundnuts to boost local pulse production. Green gram plantations are thriving in the 2025–2026 fiscal year.

The crop is being grown in most villages across the township. Officials from the Township Agriculture Department are working closely with farmers to share technical knowledge, guide proper seed selection, and promote systematic cultivation methods.— Thet Maung (Kyaukse)
