THE Department of Mines under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation notified businesspeople of renewing licences for the storage of petroleum and petroleum products two months before expiry, and a late renewal is subject to fines.
The petroleum and petroleum product storage licences issued by the department are set to expire on 31 December 2025.
The licence holders need to renew them within two months before the expiry date, according to Petroleum and Petroleum Products Rule 119.
The renewal can be done from 1 November and 31 December 2025. The late fee is set at two per cent of the licence fee per day commencing from 1 January 2026.
According to the ministry’s notification (037/2023) released on 31 October 2023, those who fail to renew their licence for a year will get their licence revoked automatically and deleted from the list. While renewing licences, renewal forms, storage licences, last inspection records of the department (copy) and documentary photos and documents of storage tanks of petrol stations are required to be presented.
