Sinbaungwe, 17 October

A vaccination campaign was carried out at basic education schools in Sinbaungwe Township, Magway Region, on the morning of 16 October, targeting the prevention of cervical cancer and other infectious diseases among schoolchildren.

As part of the campaign, HPV vaccines were administered to schoolgirls aged 9 to 10, while KG students received diphtheria-tetanus vaccines. The program was organized under the leadership of Dr. Mon Soe Yee, Head of the Township Public Health Department.

Prior to the vaccinations, healthcare workers conducted health education sessions to raise awareness among students. They explained the symptoms of cervical cancer, potential complications, timeframe during which HPV infection can lead to cervical cancer, and provided practical guidance on preventive measures.

After the awareness session, health workers performed medical checkups and administered the vaccines to the targeted age groups to ensure effective disease prevention.— Khant Win (Sinbaungwe)
