UNION Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, accompa­nied by Deputy Minister Dr Zaw Myint and relevant officials, visit­ed the Innovative Biophysics Lab at the Centre for Research and Innovation, University of Yangon, yesterday morning to observe the ongoing research project on an energy system using green hydrogen fuel cell technology for electricity generation.

 

During the observation, lecturer Dr Saw Lin Oo of the Department of Physics at the University of Yangon, explained the research project being con­ducted on producing 100 litres of fresh and potable water per hour from seawater for agricul­tural and livestock use. Then, the Union minister coordinated to provide support for the project.

 

The Union minister attend­ed the opening ceremony of 2024-2025 Higher Education In­ter-University (Men’s, Women’s) Zone football tournament at the stadium, Thaton road, Kamayut township, Yangon in the same afternoon.

 

Speaking at the event, the Union minister highlighted the holding of inter-university and colleges football tournament across the nation since 2009, and the intentions of the competition such as to promote the sports level of universities and degree colleges, produce national ath­letes through the universities’ competitions, to enhance friend­ship, patience, unity, team work among players and so on.

 

She then presented cash prize to the school band of Prac­tising High School.

 

The football tournament will take place from 20 to 26 October, there will be four zones for low­er Myanmar and another four zones for upper Myanmar, and there will be a total of 272 uni­versity students, coaches and supervisors. — MNA/KTZH
