Pwintbyu, 23 October

Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region has planted 13,280 acres of sesame this winter, out of a planned 15,742 acres, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.

Local farmers began planting in October under the supervision of the department, which is providing technical support on expanding cultivation areas, using high-yield varieties, ensuring adequate irrigation, and applying Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve productivity.

Township Chief Daw Moe Moe Wai said that increasing sesame cultivation will not only meet local oil demand but also raise farmers’ incomes and improve livelihoods through surplus sales.—Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
