THE State Government continues to identify and detain foreigners who have entered and resided illegally in border areas while being involved in crimes such as online gambling and online fraud. These individuals are being investigated and systematically deported to their respective countries in accordance with laws and procedures.

As part of these efforts, security forces from the Tatmadaw and Border Guard Force (BGF) conducted a search operation around 11 pm on 22 October in the KK Park area, under Maehtaw Thalay village-tract in Myawady Township. Upon learning of the operation, Myanmar workers and foreigners working in the KK Park area reportedly fled towards the urban area of Myawady, including Maehtaw Thalay, Phalu, and Min Let Pan village-tracts, as well as across the border into Mae Sot, Thailand.

To maintain regional stability and eliminate online gambling and online fraud activities, security personnel and departmental officials continued their search and detention efforts. As of 12 noon yesterday, 151 foreigners from 10 countries were also detained. These individuals are currently being held at the gymnasium in Ward 4 before deportation or repatriation procedures are carried out.

Chairman of the Myawady District Administration Body and District Administrator U Kaung San Lin, along with responsible officials, inspected the detainees to ensure proper arrangements for their security, food, and administrative support.

The government is actively investigating and taking effective measures against illegal telecom fraud activities. It continues to cooperate with neighbouring countries and international organizations to prevent, expose, and eliminate online gambling and financial scam networks operating along Myanmar’s border areas. — MNA/KZL
