Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region has successfully completed the cultivation of 580 acres of lablab bean for this year’s winter crop season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
The township has set a target of 3,744 acres of lablab bean to be planted this winter. Local farmers began planting the crop in early October to meet the target, and as of now, 580 acres have been completed.
In addition to lablab beans, Pwintbyu Township plans to cultivate a total of 72,564 acres of various winter crops this season. These include green gram, peas, lima beans, chickpeas, cowpeas, mung beans, rice beans, butter beans, and soybeans.
The Department of Agriculture is cooperating with local farmers to ensure the successful completion of the designated planting areas and to promote improved crop yields for food security and economic growth.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
