THE delegation of Tatmadaw (Navy) led by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win, who paid a goodwill visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Aleksandr A Moiseev to further enhance friendship and cooperation between the two navies, returned to Yangon by air on the morning of 27 October.
Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Pyae Sone Lin, senior Tatmadaw officers, Russian Military Attaché to Myanmar Colonel Kurchenko Sergey Semenovich, and responsible officials welcomed the delegation at Yangon International Airport.
During the trip, the Tatmadaw (Navy) delegation visited the No (19) Submarine Brigade of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet in Vladivostok on 21 October, where they were warmly received with a guard of honour by Rear Admiral A U Sysoev, Commander of the Primorskaya Flotilla, and senior officers. The delegation observed the Russian Navy ship Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and the submarine Komsomolsk-on-Amur, took commemorative photos, and visited the Pacific Fleet Museum. They then visited the Pacific Fleet Headquarters, where they were welcomed with a guard of honour by Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Viktor N Liina and senior officers. Both sides cordially exchanged views on bilateral naval cooperation and training matters before visiting the Russian My History Museum.
On 23 October, the delegation visited the JSC Admiralty Shipyard in Saint Petersburg, where shipyard officials explained shipbuilding and repair works. They also toured the shipyard’s museum. Afterwards, they visited JSC Middle Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant to study the construction of vessels using advanced Glass Reinforced Plastics (GRP) technology and held discussions with responsible personnel.
Similarly, on 24 October, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Russian Navy in Saint Petersburg, where Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Aleksandr A Moiseev and senior officers welcomed them. The two naval commanders inspected the guard of honour, received the salute, and posed for commemorative photographs. They then held cordial discussions on enhancing cooperation and naval training between the two navies, followed by a tour of the office, conference hall, and library of the Russian Navy Headquarters. In the evening, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy hosted a dinner in honour of the Myanmar delegation.
During the trip, the delegation also visited the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg and the Special Technology Centre (STC), which develops and produces innovative products using advanced technologies. The delegation met with Mr Evgeny Grigoryev, Chair of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg, on 25 October and discussed friendship and cooperation between the two countries. — MNA/KZL
