OPENING ceremony of My­anmar traditional bullock cart competition and bovine beauty pageant marking the 55th Tatkon Maha Kathina ceremony took place at Tatkon township stadi­um in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair­man U Than Tun Oo, council members, departmental officials, social welfare organizations, event organizing subcommit­tees, judges and participants attended the event.

 

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair­man and party cut the ribbon to start the bovine beauty pageant, and the council chairman made an opening speech.

 

They watched the competi­tions and presented a cash prize to the Shwe Thansin elephant dance troupe. The competition will be held from 1 to 3 November with 28 carts.

 

The council chairman vis­ited No 14 BEHS in Zeyathiri Township, and inspected the collective cleanliness activities of departmental staff and people and the sale of basic foodstuffs at a reference price.

 

At noon, he inspected the maintenance works on Manda­lay earthquake-affected roads in Zabuthiri, Dekkhinathiri and Lewe townships and other land­scaping works, and made proper instructions. — Aung Myo Win (Ottara)/KTZH
