OPENING ceremony of Myanmar traditional bullock cart competition and bovine beauty pageant marking the 55th Tatkon Maha Kathina ceremony took place at Tatkon township stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, council members, departmental officials, social welfare organizations, event organizing subcommittees, judges and participants attended the event.
Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and party cut the ribbon to start the bovine beauty pageant, and the council chairman made an opening speech.
They watched the competitions and presented a cash prize to the Shwe Thansin elephant dance troupe. The competition will be held from 1 to 3 November with 28 carts.
The council chairman visited No 14 BEHS in Zeyathiri Township, and inspected the collective cleanliness activities of departmental staff and people and the sale of basic foodstuffs at a reference price.
