In Paukkaung Township of Bago Region, a total of 39,164 acres of rain-fed sesame have been planted, meeting the full cultivation target, with half of the area already harvested and showing good yields.
The township’s sesame cultivation includes 7,200 acres of Sin Yadana-3, 31,637 acres of Sin Yadana-14, and 327 acres of Magway Seman Net-2/14. The Township Agriculture Department has been providing technical guidance and inputs to farmers to improve yields and reduce production costs.
So far, 31,637 acres have been harvested, producing 549,208 baskets of sesame at an average yield of 17.36 baskets per acre, marking a notable increase compared to last year.
