THE 20th meeting of the ASE­AN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME) and related meetings were held at the Parkroyal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, who is also vice-chair of the MSME Devel­opment Central Committee, committee members, relevant officials from departments and associations, and Assistant Director-General Mr Wittawat of the Office of Small and Me­dium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) of Thailand, Chair of the 20th ACCMSME, and offi­cials of ASEAN countries joined virtually.

 

The Union minister said the MSMEs are the backbone of the economies of ASEAN countries and play a vital role in driving economic growth and job cre­ation. The country fully sup­ports ASEAN’s common goal of empowering MSMEs through digital technology, innovation, and sustainable practices.

 

He emphasized that ASE­AN member states need to con­tinue strengthening coopera­tion to promote digital adoption and technological advancement for MSMEs, enhance their com­petitiveness in regional and global value chains, ensure ac­cess to financial mechanisms, and foster inclusiveness and sustainability, the importance of building inclusive market integration frameworks under ASEAN, capacity-building and knowledge-sharing for MSME competitiveness and resilience, and upskilling ASEAN entre­preneurs and policymakers to facilitate a green transition.

 

The Union minister reaf­firmed that Myanmar consist­ently supports ASEAN’s leading initiatives to foster innovative MSMEs and create a sustain­able MSME ecosystem. He added that, through partner­ships, knowledge exchange, and regional solidarity, MSMEs can become powerful engines for equitable and sustainable growth.

 

Mr Wittawat then talked about the commitment to con­duct a review in 2025 focused on promoting MSME investment, creating an inclusive economic environment, and empowering women entrepreneurs. He add­ed that all should cooperate in regional cooperation and suc­cessive development of MSMEs in the future as 2030 analysis.

 

In the evening, the dinner event for the 20th ACCMSME and related meetings was held at the Parkroyal Hotel. The meeting will last for four days. — MNA/KTZH
