IN TODAY’S world, the rapid penetration of AI technology has brought about a series of disruptions and imbalances in various arenas. Unrestrained use of AI has unintentionally caused various forms of damage and destruction in multiple sectors of the international community. Therefore, governments and relevant authorities in respective countries now have the responsibility to monitor and regulate AI usage to ensure it follows the proper course.

Due to the astonishing advancement and widespread use of AI technology, there have been increasing instances of unlawful AI usage within human society. The misuse of AI has led, both intentionally and unintentionally, to various harmful consequences that affect individuals, groups, and the socioeconomic lives of people in many countries.

Moreover, unethical individuals are exploiting AI technology for wrongful purposes, engaging in activities that violate laws and regulations instead of using AI for genuine progress. To eliminate such misuse of AI, advanced technologies must be applied. Both users and government authorities are required to be proficient in high-level technologies that can detect and counteract malicious uses of AI. The main objective is to prevent and protect against the use of AI in committing illegal acts.

In Myanmar, the government has formed a supervisory committee to disseminate legal knowledge to the people from all walks of life through Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology with a view to promoting public legal awareness through the wide application of AI technology in connection with the law. The committee aims to make legal knowledge easily accessible to the public and to ensure that legal services are readily available through the effective use of AI.

The supervisory committee is responsible for leading and facilitating cooperation between legal experts and technology professionals in carrying out AI-related legal processes. It also provides necessary guidance for incorporating legal knowledge and information, and forms supporting subcommittees as needed to ensure the successful implementation of projects that integrate legal information into Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on a broad scale.

With foresight for the future and for the benefit of the State and the public, the people of Myanmar should be enabled to understand and skillfully apply AI technology. While enhancing the public’s technological literacy, legal knowledge must be disseminated, especially to students and youth, to prevent potential crimes and harms that could arise from the misuse of AI. People should be taught and encouraged to use AI responsibly and lawfully. Only then can the undesirable negative impacts caused by AI be minimized and mitigated.
