THE Ministry of Education organized the first meeting of the Mid-Term Review (MTR) Reference Group for the National Education Strategic Plan (2021- 2030) yesterday at the Conference Room of the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Education, Nay Pyi Taw. Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, Deputy Minister Dr Zaw Myint, directors-general, the rector of the Naypyitaw State Academy, deputy directors-general, directors, and responsible officials attended the meeting.

In her opening remarks, the Union minister stated that the National Education Strategic Plan (2021-2030) serves as a roadmap designed to provide quality education, equitable opportunities, and internationally competitive capabilities for future generations of the country. She noted that the implementation of the plan has now reached its mid-term, and this is the best time for reflection, learning, and charting the path forward.

She emphasized that the Mid-Term Review (MTR) process should prioritize four key areas: documenting progress, addressing challenges, analyzing new opportunities, and establishing consensus for future actions. To ensure the successful execution of the MTR process, she called for full collaboration among all departments, led by the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, including the Ministry itself.

The meeting then continued as scheduled, and Dr Aung Kyaw, leader of the MTR Reference Group, explained the objectives and procedures of the Mid-Term Review. Afterwards, MTR Group secretary Dr Kyaw San Win presented proposals regarding the recruitment of experts for the MTR Team. The members discussed and supported the proposals, after which the meeting was adjourned. — MoE
