THOSE authorized growers who were granted a permit yet failed to commence operations in the coffee project area in Pyin Oo Lwin will face legal action, the PyinOoLwin Coffee Project Management Group notified.
The PyinOoLwin Coffee Project Management Group set up a coffee project area in Pyin Oo Lwin District to boost production.
Land areas designated for the coffee project are vacant, fallow and virgin lands. Those with permits are not allowed to be given away, sold, mortgaged, leased, or transferred by any means or land divided into separate lots. Therefore, those who fail to commence operations will get their land reclaimed.
Some growers are found reselling or transferring the permit to others. They will get prosecuted under the existing law, the Amendment to the Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Management Law. The PyinOoLwin Coffee Project Management Group notified coffee growers to observe Subsections 16 (C) and 29 (A) of the law thoroughly. — NN/KK
