THROUGHOUT Myanmar’s independence struggle period, unity has proven to be a source of strength. The National Victory Day ceremonies, which were successfully designated to commemorate this achievement, have been grandly celebrated across the entire Union of Myanmar every year without fail, and this year marks the 105th anniversary.
The essence of unity from the historic and grand National Victory Day must be preserved without fail. With the collective strength of all ethnic peoples, we must build a peaceful, prosperous, and all-round developed nation. We should learn lessons from the past and present events we have experienced and strive to pass on the invaluable heritage of peace to the new generation of youth.
Education is a fundamental strength that develops a person’s character, intelligence, self-discipline, and values, and it shapes not only the life of each individual but also the future of the entire nation. Therefore, students and young people must be nurtured and trained through education to become responsible, morally upright, and patriotic citizens who truly care for their country. So, they all must prioritize the interests of the Union, the ethnic peoples, and the nation, working together to forge peace.
To ensure a nation’s peace, stability, and continuous development, national education must be promoted by equipping each citizen with knowledge, skills, reasoning ability, and general understanding. This is especially important in the current era of transition to a democratic system, where ethnic citizens must carefully consider and discern right from wrong to act in the best interests of the country and their people. Moreover, the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities gained through education serve as essential competencies that greatly support political, administrative, defence, economic, and social sectors.
Teachers must not only instruct students but also cultivate and nurture them into well-rounded, capable human resources who, in the future, can serve as reliable pillars for the nation. Only in this way can the country be built with a fully knowledgeable, skilled, and outstanding human resource base.
National Victory Day is a day that laid the foundation for the people of Myanmar to rise with a stronger patriotic spirit and vitality throughout the history of their struggle for independence. On this distinguished and sacred National Victory Day, in line with the 105th anniversary slogan, “Let’s march towards a new golden nation in unity”, all the people of Myanmar are encouraged to embrace the spirit of unity and together, with a strong sense of national solidarity, advance toward a forever peaceful, prosperous, and developed New Golden Land.
