THE Myanmar Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (MAVO) said that this year’s high-quality Hass avocados will be exported to Singapore and Thailand mainly.

Last year, about 3,000 tonnes of high-quality Hass avocados were produced during the avocado season, and MAVO expects to produce even more this year.

Hass avocados and Buccaneer avocados, which are commonly grown locally, are mainly consumed in major cities such as Yangon and Mandalay. The association urges avocado farmers to prioritize varieties that meet market demand, as locally grown avocados are in strong demand in both domestic and international markets.

Avocados are usually harvested from September to December each year, and in addition to Hass avocados, other varieties such as Buccaneer, 034, Booth 7, and Amara are consumed domestically and exported to foreign markets.
