THE UMFCCI and BelCCI jointly organized the Myanmar-Belarus Business Forum to promote economic and investment cooperation between the two countries in Yangon yesterday.
It was attended by Union Ministers Dr Wah Wah Maung, U Min Naung, Dr Charlie Than, U Chit Swe and Dr Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, UMFCCI President U Aye Win, delegation led by Belarusian Foreign Minister Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov, Chairperson of Belarusian state concern for production and sale of light industry goods Bellegprom, Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Industry, Minister for Health and Belarusian Ambassador to Myanmar, senior officials of relevant ministries, Myanmar-Belarusian business people, totalling 130.
Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung discussed Myanmar-Belarus diplomatic relations, the strategic directives of the two countries’ leaders, ongoing cooperation, Myanmar–Belarus Development Cooperation Roadmap (2026- 2028), Myanmar’s investment frameworks, sector-wise investment opportunities between the two countries, and possibilities for connecting to the EAEU market.
Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov, President of the UMFCCI U Aye Win, and Chairperson of the Belarusian state concern for production and sale of light industry goods Bellegprom Ms Nadezhda Lazarevich, delivered their remarks.
The relevant officials of the two countries signed agreements on economic cooperation and exchanged 16 agreements. The meeting focused on the banking and financial sector, transport, agriculture-based industry and health services.
Before the forum, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than met Belarusian ministers and officials separately to discuss the ongoing cooperation work plans in detail.
The co-chairs of the Myanmar-Belarus Joint Commission-Union Minister Dr Wah Wah Maung and Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov, held a bilateral meeting to discuss enhancing close cooperation on investment promotion and preparations for Myanmar to host the third joint commission coordination meeting. They then signed agreements related to the Myanmar-Belarus Development Cooperation Roadmap (2026-2028) and the second meeting of the Myanmar-Belarus Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung met Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Mr Yury Gorlov and exchanges views on bilateral trade of farming products and foodstuff, bilateral cooperation, export of Myanmar’s rice, rubber, nuts, fruits and coffee to Belarus and import of cheese and butter from Belarus, proper network between private business people and organizations for export and import sectors of the two countries and information exchange on trade.
Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than met Belarusian Industry Minister Mr Andrei Kuzentsov, and discussed further cooperation in promising industrial sectors of Myanmar based on the Memorandum of Intent (MoI) and Roadmap, assistance in the production of essential cancer treatment medicines, technology transfer in pharmaceutical manufacturing, human resource development training, development in automobile manufacturing, MSME development, and market access for MSME products from both countries. — MNA/KTZH
