A total of 16 male and female prisoners from Sittway Prison and Kyaukphyu Prison were released under Order 10/2025 of the National Defence and Security Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The National Defence and Security Council released Pardon Order 10/2025 on 26 November, saying the special emphasis is being put on the pathway to a multiparty democratic system that the entire people desire, and objectives are also set to be able to implement with public participation. The council has pardoned male and female prisoners, who face punishment, from their respective prisons, jails and camps under Penal Code Section 505-A according to the Code of Criminal Procedure Article 401 (1) on condition that “they will have to serve the new punishment together with the remaining punishment to which they were sentenced this time if more offence is committed not to lose the right of every eligible person to be able to freely and fairly cast vote in the forthcoming multiparty democracy general election.
Therefore, seven male prisoners and one female prisoner from Sittway Prison, and five male prisoners and three female prisoners from Kyaukphyu Prison were released.
