A delegation led by U Thaik Soe, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development, attended the 7th ASEAN Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation Leadership Awards Ceremony, held on the evening of 11 December at the Amamtara Siam Bangkok Hotel.

The 14th ASEAN Ministers on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (AMRDPE) was held on 12 December at the Amantaara Siam Bangkok Hotel, attended by the deputy minister.

At the meeting, the deputy minister said that Myanmar’s inclusive rural development strategy, consistent with the Myanmar comprehensive and sustainable development plan, guides rural communities to innovate and transform their economies through capacity building. He added that the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has set a plan to implement rural development projects by harnessing the combined power of the people, local capacity, knowledge, and innovation. Development processes should emphasize local participation, decision-making, and leadership, providing opportunities for village communities to identify, prioritize, and manage important infrastructure projects themselves.

Myanmar reaffirms its strong commitment to inclusive efforts and calls on everyone to move forward with a united spirit to realize the ASEAN community’s goal of leaving no one behind, he said.
