THE 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference and the Traditional Myanmar Medicine Symposium, involving experts from various fields with the aim of contributing to public health through traditional medicine, will be held from 15 to 17 December 2025 at the Myanmar International Convention Centre I in Nay Pyi Taw.

With the encouragement and recognition of the Government, and through the unified and collective participation of all veteran traditional medicine practitioners, the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference has been successfully held annually at the national level since the year 2000. As of this year, it will be convened for the 24th time. In holding the Conference, not only traditional medicine practitioners but also related experts take part, and through the exchange of experiences and viewpoints, valuable benefits will be gained in further elevating the standard of traditional Myanmar medicine.

In order to further develop Myanmar’s traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals, cooperation is already underway with related experts who can provide support, including specialists in pharmacology, chemistry, botany, biochemistry, and other fields of expertise. Based on traditional Myanmar herbal plants, many scholars have conducted research and have earned numerous doctoral and master’s degrees, successfully identifying and demonstrating the efficacy and therapeutic properties of traditional medicines.

Currently, with the support of the Government, the selfless and united efforts of senior traditional medicine practitioners working in the interest of traditional medicine, and the public’s trust in and support for traditional Myanmar medicine are mutually reinforcing. As a result, favourable conditions are already in place to enable concerted and sustained efforts towards the further flourishing of traditional Myanmar medicine.

The objectives of convening the 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference and the Traditional Myanmar Medicine Symposium are to further improve disease diagnosis and treatment methods through traditional Myanmar medicine; to enable the public to understand the medicinal value of plants in their surroundings and commonly used kitchen ingredients; to expand the provision of primary health care services through traditional medicine; and to preserve, safeguard, and promote traditional Myanmar medicine practices.

As traditional Myanmar medicine practitioners and experts from various relevant sectors work together to advance the form and substance of traditional Myanmar medicine, the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference stands as a symbol of unity among traditional medicine practitioners. Hence, it will be seen as a conference that fosters new ideas and innovative thinking for the comprehensive development of the traditional medicine sector.
