THE newly-graduated trainees are encouraged to continuously develop into more skilled and competent nurses, pharmacists and paramedics, thereby enhancing their careers and professional expertise.

On behalf of State Security and Peace Commission Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing, SSPC Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Thiri Pyanchi Maha Thray Sithu Soe Win delivered a speech at the passing out parade of the 10th intake of the female nursing and paramedical science course at the parade ground of the Defence Services Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Science in Yangon yesterday morning.

The Vice-Senior General took the salute of the graduate trainee companies and inspected them. These companies marched past the Vice-Senior General.

The Vice-Senior General presented the best trainee award to female trainee Khaing Sabei Myo and the excellent award in training to female trainee Yi Yi Myint, and the excellent award in studies to female trainee Thin Thin Thiri from the 10th intake, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Senior General, on behalf of the Senior General, said that following the motto “Virtue, Knowledge, Skill,” the institute has trained a total of 5,692 graduates, including those completing undergraduate, post-graduate, and diploma programmes, to become proficient, compassionate, and medically competent professionals.

He noted that the fundamental spirit of nursing is guided by the five principles of “dedication, compassion, sympathy, gentleness, and exemplary conduct,” and nurses are urged to care for and treat patients with devotion and compassion in accordance with these principles.

He stressed that paramedics serve as key supporters in patient care within their respective areas of expertise. They are involved in disease detection and assessment, ensure that medications are properly stored and accurately delivered to patients without damage or expiry, and help patients regain both physical strength and mental well-being.

The Vice-Senior General remarked that as members of the military medical corps, they must also firmly cultivate the Spirit of Nursing. In the field, they are expected to integrate new experiences with their existing medical knowledge to develop advanced medical skills and effective treatment and care systems. They must continue to study, practise, and diligently apply these skills without deviation, striving to maintain high standards in patient care.

He urged the nurses to study and integrate information and technological knowledge carefully, analyzing and understanding it from all angles. By applying their own intelligence and reasoning, they should discern and act only on accurate information, avoiding false or misleading news that could destabilize the nation, Tatmadaw, their organizations, or families. Through this approach, they are encouraged to continuously develop into more skilled and competent nurses, pharmacists and paramedics, thereby enhancing their careers and professional expertise.

For the 2025 multiparty democratic general election, he revealed that arrangements have been made to allow both domestic and international observation groups to observe and assess the process to ensure transparency, freedom, and fairness.

He highlighted that elections represent a first crucial step on the democratic journey desired by all ethnic communities. Any attempts to disrupt or undermine the election would negate the collective will of the people. Therefore, the public must unite in protecting and preventing any interference or sabotage that could impede the electoral process.

The Vice-Senior General underscored that Tatmadaw has temporarily assumed national responsibilities in accordance with the 2008 Constitution. Once the elections are completed, these national responsibilities will be transferred to the elected government in accordance with democratic standards.

After taking the salute of the graduate companies, the Vice-Senior General left the parade ground.

Also, present at the parade were Daw Than Than Nwe, the wife of the Vice-Senior General, Union ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the Yangon Region Chief Minister and his wife, the commander of Yangon Command, and the commandant of the institute.

After the parade, the Vice-Senior General and party met outstanding trainees at the headquarters of the institute and appreciated their efforts.

In the evening, the Vice-Senior General and party attended the graduation dinner of the 10th intake of the female nursing and paramedical science course and had dinner together with the graduate nurses and guests.

After the dinner, the Vice-Senior General and party enjoyed the music played by the military band of the institute and presented cash awards to it.

They all then enjoyed the entertainment presented by the Myawady Entertainment Troupe at the Thabin Hall of the institute. — MNA/TTA
