THE Myanmar wushu team, along with other participating athletes, has returned to Yangon after securing three silver and two bronze medals at the XXXIII South-East Asia Games, held from 9 to 20 December 2025 in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand.
In the Games’ wushu events, the men’s barehand taolu (duilian) pair of Tin Htoo Wai and Ye Yint Htun won a silver medal. In the women’s sanshou (56-kilogramme) event, Cherry Than claimed a silver medal, while in the women’s sanshou (60-kilogramme) category, Hnin Nu Wa secured another silver. The women’s barehand taolu (duilian) pair of Thu Pan Htwa and Khine Sandar Soe earned a bronze medal, and in the men’s sanshou (70-kilogramme) event, Myo Min Htet also brought home a bronze.
The athletes returned to Yangon yesterday evening via Myanmar Airways International (MAI), where officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education, along with the athletes’ parents, warmly welcomed and congratulated them on their achievements. — MNA/KZL
