THE Myanmar wushu team, along with other participating athletes, has returned to Yangon after se­curing three silver and two bronze medals at the XXXIII South-East Asia Games, held from 9 to 20 December 2025 in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand.

 

In the Games’ wushu events, the men’s barehand taolu (duil­ian) pair of Tin Htoo Wai and Ye Yint Htun won a silver medal. In the women’s sanshou (56-kilo­gramme) event, Cherry Than claimed a silver medal, while in the women’s sanshou (60-kilo­gramme) category, Hnin Nu Wa secured another silver. The women’s barehand taolu (duilian) pair of Thu Pan Htwa and Kh­ine Sandar Soe earned a bronze medal, and in the men’s sanshou (70-kilogramme) event, Myo Min Htet also brought home a bronze.

 

The athletes returned to Yangon yesterday evening via Myanmar Airways International (MAI), where officials from the Department of Sports and Physi­cal Education, along with the ath­letes’ parents, warmly welcomed and congratulated them on their achievements. — MNA/KZL
