MYANMAR’S national team secured a gold med­al in the team billiards event at the XXXIII SEA Games, hosted by Thailand, on 14 December.

 

In the final, Myanmar faced Singapore and won the match 3-1. The victory came against Singapore’s team, led by renowned player Peter Gilchrist, marking Myanmar’s first gold medal in billiards at a Thailand-hosted SEA Games.

 

Myanmar won the first mini-match 100-46 but lost the second 100-68, making the remaining matches crucial. The team then claimed victo­ries in the third mini-match 100-35 and the fourth 102-45, securing a well-deserved gold medal. The gold-winning Myanmar team included U Pauk Sa, Nay Thway Oo and Aung Htay.

 

With all billiards events concluded, My­anmar earned one gold and one silver medal across the two event categories. The gold came from the team competition, while the silver was won by U Pauk Sa in the individual event. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
